Prevention is Better than Cure: Summer School Maintenance

The summer is the ideal time for empty schools to be thoroughly cleaned. Free of occupants for several weeks, you need to ensure that cleaning tasks that are difficult to achieve during the school year are carried out effectively and efficiently. It’s important that schools are well maintained, looking spick and span for the new academic year, providing students with a healthy learning environment, limiting the spread of germs and bacteria.  It’s already time to start thinking about summer cleaning and maintenance! Over the years, MAR Services has helped to take care of scores of schools and we capitalize on the summer break to get those deep cleaning jobs ticked off the list and get to grips with any outstanding maintenance tasks.  One thing we have learned is that, when it comes to maintenance is ‘every £ of prevention is worth a hundred in cure.’ During the summer of 2015, we…

Preventing Legionella – Simple ways to keep this serious illness at bay

Legionnaire’s disease is a serious, often fatal, form of pneumonia that is caused by the Legionella bacteria. This microscopic nasty is everywhere and is usually not an issue, unless it is allowed to grow to a significant level outside the body. Legionella bacteria like to grow in central heating units, air conditioning systems, and water pipes. When they are allowed to become a large enough colony, the bacteria can overwhelm the body’s defenses, particularly in the elderly, the young, and those with compromised immune systems. A brief history In 1976, convention-goers to an American Legion convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, began falling ill with a type of pneumonia. Within a week of the end of the convention, 130 people, mostly men, were hospitalised, and 25 died. They ranged in age from 39 to 85. After that outbreak, Legionella pneumophila was discovered. Previously it had been considered a bacteria that only…

New Contract | Naim Audio

We are delighted to announce the start of a new contract for Naim Audio.  Naim Audio founder Julian Vereker MBE (1945-2000) was a racing car driver, entrepreneur and self-taught engineer with a deep passion for music. Spending his spare time listening to and recording his friends playing live in the 1960s, Julian found that playback on his system at home fell woefully short of the experience he craved.  He decided to design his own amplifiers and loudspeakers, ignoring accepted wisdom and focusing on aspects of performance that made music burst to life. These first designs laid the foundations for a range of iconic and award-winning hi-fi products that would reach well into the next century.  This maverick approach to design, backed by 40 years of engineering and craft, fuels our progress today. We are providing daily and specialist cleaning services for this iconic company based in Salisbury. www.naimaudio.com
